More crochet stuff!

Hello, hello! A little update from Belgium, currently a cold country that is slowly living up to Christmas… If only there would be some snow, I’d be a happy girl πŸ™‚

A while ago I started working on the sloughy beanie hat for my niece that lives in Limburg. Another niece, one that lives in the area of Brussels, saw it on facebook and asked me if I could make her a hat like that, but in pink. She wanted a running hat for during the colder winter months. I decided to go with my favourite yarn (a thicker one, crochet hook 8mm) and wanted to make it thighter than the sloughy beanie. When running a loose hat would be problematic I think πŸ™‚

In the making...
In the making…

That meant I had to make my own design a bit, from other designs that I knew. It was the first adult thight beanie I made and there was no pattern, so I had to redo the bigger hat part a couple of times (too small and then way to big). The border from the sloughy beanie pattern looked great in the thick yarn, but I redid the joining of the two 5 times I think. Tried crocheting it together, sewing it together – both several times, it just didn’t look good. After carefully separating the two pieces for the 5th time, I decided to give up for the night and bood the hat aside. And when laying it aside, I accidentally put the edge over the hat, and that was it: I just needed to sew it a little bit over the base of the hat to make it look good… πŸ™‚

Tada!
Tada!

On my – as always way to serious – head it looks like this:

And since my normal alternate model was asleep at that time… Husband gave it a go πŸ˜‰

Pink looks great on him, don't you think?

Other than that, my main focus is (still…) the zoo blanket. Decided to use light grey to edge it a bit more around the squares, because mainly the height was worrying me when I put it to test on Febes bed. So here is where we stand now:

Bedtest...
Bedtest…
Lighter grey fits well...

Untill next time!
